Penang Wan ChengQi

Skit Day today! You see, my happy school is still busy having orientation and 'bonding' activities while everyone else is already deep in lessons. On tuesday, they told us to put up a performance in the form of a ppt presentation, song, video, dance, musical or anything, as long as its about Singapore's identity. So we spent the whole of tuesday and wednesday slacking around in the studio and preparing for the skit that we chose to put up. It was meant to be the singaporean version of Romeo and Juliet. With names like Romeo Bin Beng Beng and Ju Ah Lian. -_-

Funny technical error happened during performance! Because Ju-Ah-Lian is supposed to lie dead on a table. But two of the table legs actually gave way and COLLAPSED. and she slid off and was left sitting on the floor in a daze. Lol. Then after that we kept replaying the video and having a good laugh =p

Here you see our group trying to set up the flimsy table again. While everyone is watching. So malu sia...

As for little me, i play a dude called Penang. FOrmerly called Paris (back when they havent yet decided to change names like Benvolio to names like Ah Girl). Which is a worse name in my opinion. Lol. Anyway he's supposed to be Ju Ah Lian's fiance, but she runs off to Romeo B.B.B. So my stage time in that one scene is only all of 60 secs, where Ju Ah Lian's parents introduce Penang to her and she refuses to marry Penang. So when i said "Hi.. i am Penang!", i did so in such a comical way that now even my lecturer calls me Penang. U see, she had to inform me there were no lessons tml, so she called my hp, and when i answered, i was greeted with 'PENANG! Hahaha.. jus informin u that u got no lessons tml..'. Gasp. I thought that it was my friend at first lor. -_-. Sad case. Why not.. Uzbekistan? or Jerusalem?? Penang. Hurmph.

And after the performances we all had a satisfying free catered lunch, which was a MacDonald's Cheeseburger, sandwiches, samosas, chicken wings, and packets of green tea. Don't my school just rox? lol..

And so i have become thou-who-shalt-be-called-Penang-for-his-poly-life. Hai..

For the past few days, sp-church group has been going down to practice the routine for Parade next tuesday. And we also had a full dress rehearsal. The Magnum Force, Singapore's premier cheerleading team from Ngee Ann Poly, even came down to perform and coach us. Man they were awesome! Least of all were their striking blue-yellow-white uniforms. 6 of them equals to 50 of us. They had so much energy on stage la!. Heck, even 3 of their girls screaming and flying on stage drowned out the blaring music track at times. By the end of their sizzling 4 minute-long routine and insanely impossible stunts, practically everyone's lower jaws were left resting on the carpet floor =/ Must say I really respect their coordination and skill. Truly an awesome team that deserve their crown as best team in s'pore.

Here are some pics of Magnum Force, and the rest of the rehearsal..

6 of the Professionals. You can see the blue and white skirt that the girl is wearing. Thats part of their uniform. Which i dont think it serves any functional purpose as a skirt.. Eh lol.

And one of their insanely high tosses (it went higher. Girl's still on her way up. Ehheheh...)

All the various groups gathered in the main auditorium waiting for rehearsal to start..

Another pic of the groups waiting in the audi..

The SP group in performance uniform waiting at the main lift lobby to go down to the huge main auditorium, which is 4 stories underground..

SP in full glory on stage! Even the stage decor changed to red in honour of us. nah jk.

The completed SP Parade banner. Nice isn't it?

Normal cheerleaders cheer for basketball teams. We cheer for God =)

And lastly, an uber-cool device that will be used for the church youth conference. Its a giant decibel meter that measures the volume of screams from the auditorium crowd from microphones hung all over the ceiling. Because contests such as talentime will be judged by audience screams. Cool eh? Haha. Here you see the meter being calibrated. Can also see the big church choir stand and stage decorations. Those shiny thingies are hundreds of cds hung from the ceiling, by the way..

Haha. today while walking to school i saw a guy cycling to class in a UNICYCLE, Which is, a bicycle minus one wheel. LOL. And you've thought you seen everything when your friends start driving to school in their own cars. -_-. Whats next, flying pigs?

Whoopee! Parade performance day is inching near. Next tues!!.. WhooooopEEEeee!!!...
