Lobster John...

Today, john-with-nothing-to-do cycled to the nearby SAFRA club to have a nice swim. It was 12.30 pm. He went early because there would be few people at this time. Obviously, by evening, the pool would be full of little kiddies thrashing about and dunking each other and causing a general safety hazard: "ARGH!! Incoming artillery fire! 3 o'clock! Projectile type: falling kid pushed from poolside!"

Okay okay that was an exaggeration. Anyway back to the story...

He got into the soothing, cold, oxidising (???!), relaxing (but heavily chlorinated..) water....

And didn't wanna come back out. Muhaha.

So he, erm.. i mean, i, swam back and forth, back and forth.

FIFTY times. (I counted.)

Until i got sick of doing the same thing...

So i grudgingly stepped out of the water into the blistering heat of the midday sun.

And when i went to dry myself with the towel,

Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Then i realised that the sun's rays can actually perforate the water's surface!! I had earlier thought that the aforementioned rays would hit the water surface, and due to a change in medium, they would refract so far away from the normal that my back would be safe. (ooh how i miss physics.) -_-".

Yup. So thats how my entire back (and legs and hands and head. but mostly my back..) became sunburnt.

Great. And last time when i went kayaking, it was only my face. Didn't know a simple SAJC cotton t shirt could offer so much protection. Now its my entire tooting being.

*leans back in computer chair...*

OWWWWWWWwwwwww..... =/
